Head lice: A Natural Alternative to Chemical Treatments
So, it's nearly the start of the new school year, and that means it's also the beginning of the annual fight against nits! Head to head contact with an already infested person, whether on the playground, during sports activities or at home is the most common way to get head lice. Preschool and elementary-age children, 3-11, and their families are infested most often and girls get head lice more often than boys. And unfortunately, the 'cleaner the hair the better' saying is just not true - it's an old wives tale!
Research proves that parents are extremely wary about using chemical treatments on young children - mainly because resistance to conventional treatments is emerging. Two out of three chemicals used in over-the-counter preparations have documented resistance, and experiments have demonstrated that a third is also under threat.
